Try something new, perhaps a hobby

You're never too old to learn something new, or try your hand at a new hobby. I recently taught myself how to crochet. I saw a young, funky woman's crochet book and that reframed crochet for me: it's not just for silver-haired grannies! Research has found that engaging in enjoyable hobbies is associated with lower blood pressure, lower levels of depression and stress and a higher level of positive psycho-social states.



So what, now what? Investigate the options that spark your interest. Try new things and keep an open mind. Sign up for a class: you never know what might become your favourite pastime. Hobbies promote a state of mindfulness, encouraging us to focus on the task at hand.
