Consistency is Key!

September = STOP starting & stopping! There are benefits to being a person that is ‘consistent’.

The Oak trees are sprouting new green leaves, and the Cherry Blossom Trees (I think that’s what they are called) are suddenly blooming in Johannesburg.
Spring has SPRUNG. Everything is starting to look stupendously beautiful. It is splendid. But, unfortunately the RR (ridiculous rhetoric) has also kicked into play. I am somewhat amused (aka irritated) when I hear countless conversations mentioning: “Can you believe that it’s already September?”

What the heck! September comes after August. What’s the surprise, and time isn’t speeding up!

So for the umpteenth (love this word) time, I am going to bang the drum about CONSISTENCY being KEY for adopting a new behaviour.

WIIFU (What’s In It For U?) …the benefits of consistency.

  • You'll be happier: Studies have shown that people who are consistent in their actions are generally happier, than those who are not.
  • You'll achieve more goals: This is because we're putting in the effort daily …  and we're not giving up halfway through.
  • You'll be more productive: You’re  probably more ‘focused’, perhaps not procrastinating as much, or generally wasting time on things that don't matter.
  • You'll be more reliable: People respect consistency because it's a sign of reliability. When we're consistent in our actions, people know they can count on us to do what we say we will do.
  • You'll develop better habits: When we're consistent, we're more likely to develop good habits. We're doing the same thing repeatedly until it becomes a part of who we are.

We have had fun today. Shout out to @Kayla Peddie who helped me develop this FUN campaign over the last few weekends. Today we launched our 9-day Peachy Bum Challenge.

I am totally out of my comfort zone (ouch). Who puts a picture of themselves squatting in the bathroom?

It’s all in the name of sharing my new TINY HABIT. Join me. In your bathroom STRAIGHT AFTER you have brushed your teeth in the morning (the latter provides a good trigger for you to remember) ... simply do 30 DEEP SQUATS.

I am a huge fan of Prof BJ Fogg, who wrote the book : ‘Tiny Habits’. He’s a Behaviour Scientist, with terrific experience in innovation, and he teaches at Stanford University.

This quote of his is fabulous:
“There are only three things we can do that will create lasting change: Have an epiphany, change our environment, or change our habits in tiny ways.”
― B.J. Fogg, Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything

September = #STOPstartingandstopping #beconsistent #bounceforward
